Antique Old Waxed Pine Blanket Chest Trunk Coffee Table Box Coffer Restored

What i have for sale is a rustic but fully restored large early Victorian pine blanket box in a waxed finish. There looks to be elements of pitch pine to it.

Great for storage or use as a coffee table tv stand etc. Around 17 1/4 inches high. Firstly the chest was stripped of about four layers of thick thick!!

Woodworm treated as a precaution(i normally do it). Sanded all over super smooth. The lid was upholstered at some stage so all old fabric and multiple tacks were removed and i reinstated the lid trim in new aged/timber. I also added some base supports to give it strength and stability(see pictures). Its features are as follows. Original lock and keep (no key).

Thick shaped trim to three sides on bottom of main chest structure. The hinges and handles have been cleaned the handles were painted and now back to original finish. The chest had been waxed multiple times in Fiddes pine wax underneath the lid and even underneath have been done to nourish and protect it.

The outside is very smooth and tactile with a warm sandy patina inside the chest is obviously clean but not as finished as the exterior. This is a very old item and as such carries its marks of history and usage/repairs.

Old worm sign, old nail heads, marks etc etc plus having been previously upholstered there are holes from the tacks, the wax has generally filled these in and add to its character. I think thats covered it.
